I am happy to announce to the Bukable community that we have raised a $15,000 grant to continue our journey building a community-driven mentorship platform for students.
We participated in a student startup competition and this competition received applications from over 2.3 thousand students from more than 250 universities in different areas of study. We made it to the finals, pitched to a panel of judges and we were selected among 1000 startups to receive the grant.
Over a year ago, we started out with a mission to solve a big pain point for students. This is providing them access to a community where they can find internship opportunities to gain experience and prepare for the job market to become employable.
From our first MVP launch on the 19th of September, 2021 on ProductHunt as “a marketplace to hire verified students for various tasks”, we were able to understand our solution and what students needed from the feedback we got from over 4,000 users of our MVP. We have now pivoted to building Bukable as a professional social network for students that helps with career advancement through community-driven mentorship and opportunities.
Our mentorship and knowledge community will help facilitate conversations between mentors and mentees aligned with their career interests and goals. We also assist students in gaining access to internships, perks, and discounts provided by companies.
In the last 1 year we set out to build Bukable, we were faced with lots of challenges as some of our core engineering team members were affected by the crisis in Europe and this impacted our development progress. Even though we faced challenges, we overcame them and continued to make progress slowly.
We have invited 9 developer interns and 24 designer interns who are students to collaborate on a solution that solves a big problem that is of concern to them and millions of other students across the world.
With this grant, we will be able to continue developing our application and launch a revised MVP that is in line with our mission.
In the next 5 years, we will work hard to see our mission “to create the world’s largest digital ecosystem for students where learning, innovation and support never ends” become a reality.
On behalf of myself, my co-founders Andrey Shtunder and Igor Trofimov, we are happy to say that this is just the beginning and we are fired up for what’s coming ahead.
