On the 20th of November 2022, we gave 25 young people the opportunity to intern with Bukable to solidify their skills, again hands-on experience, mentorship, training, and exposure to various aspects of the design industry.
4 months later today, 14 out of 25 were able to finish the rigorous internship and were able to contribute to the product design of our applications.
This cohort is predominantly current university students from 4 countries across 3 continents. They were able to collaborate through remote communication with our team to build a solution for students led by students and young people.
The completion of the internship has created a revamped Bukable application design that is currently being developed by our engineering team. The Bukable platform seeks to provide a mentorship and knowledge-based community that connects students with internship opportunities, industry experts and peers to facilitate the exchange of ideas, experiences, and resources. It will be ready for launch soon.
We believe that internships are a crucial step in the professional development of any designer or anyone entering into the work place. As a startup solving limited access to mentorship and internship opportunities for students and young people, Bukable took the lead.
What does a Design Internship look like at Bukable?
As a design intern at Bukable, you will have the opportunity of 3 months to work on a variety of projects, from branding, web design, product design (UI/UX) to product research, as well as being part of an entire product development circle. You will be challenged to think outside the box and bring fresh perspectives to the table.
But it’s not just about work; we also value collaboration and personal growth. Our team is a tight-knit community where everyone supports each other and shares their knowledge and experiences. You will also have the chance to collaborate with other interns and members of the Bukable team, giving you the opportunity to learn from and grow with your peers.
You will be given real responsibility and have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the company. You will have the opportunity to showcase your talents and work on exciting projects that will be seen by our clients and the public.
During your time with us, you will be given autonomy to have your ideas and decisions considered as well as getting mentorship from your manager who will guide you through the creative process and provide valuable insights and feedback.
Upon completion of the internship, participants will receive a certificate of internship participation, such as the chance to join Bukable as a full-time employee if they put up an excellent performance during the internship program.
Meet the graduating Bukable Design Interns
Okubote Eniola – Eniola is a Product Designer with experience of designing mobile and web applications. He has experience building products for E-commerce, SaaS, Edtech. He contributed significantly to the development of the Bukable app. He is exceptionally skilled at User Research, building User personas, Competitive Analysis, building Design Systems, wireframes, prototyping and creating user-centric designs. As a User Experience and Interface Designer, his designs are structured with accessibility in mind ensuring the user comes first and at the same time visually appealing. However, he makes sure my designs meet business goals. He is an excellent team player, having worked with Bukable as the team lead for the design system. He also worked as a team member while building the homepage and landing pages of the Bukable application.

Onyeka Ezeneche – Onyeka is an enthusiastic tech-savvy Digital Product Designer eager to contribute to team success through diligent work, attention to detail, stellar designs and excellent organisational skills. Ayodeji Sanni – Ayodeji is a business/customer-obsessed product designer who is passionate about innovating impactful products that range from mobile, and web applications to B2C, B2B2C, and B2B products, and enterprise platforms. As a Product Designer, he brings a user-centered approach to design, combining creativity and technical skills to craft digital experiences that are both intuitive and visually appealing. With his strong understanding of web and mobile design principles, he works closely with clients and cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet both business objectives and user expectations. Some of his contributions to the development of the Bukable application included designing wireframes and mockups. He also created user personas and user flows and worked closely with stakeholders for a better implementation of the enterprise application and administrative dashboard designs.

Toyeeb Amusan – Toyeeb is a digital product designer who is passionate about creating innovative and user-centered products that improve people’s lives. With a background in design and engineering, he brings an exceptional blend of creativity and technical expertise to every project he works on. He has extensive experience of designing digital products, including mobile and web applications, and websites, and he specializes in user interface design, user research, prototyping, and design thinking. His ultimate goal as a product designer is to create products that are not only useful but also delightful to use. He believes that the most excellent products are those that seamlessly integrate into users’ lives, making them easier, more enjoyable, and more fulfilling. He made significant contributions to the research and design of the Bukable Application including wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs of both the Bukable application and website. Tolulope Ilori – Tolulope is a Product Designer that focuses on translating users’ pain points into solutions. She strives to create user interfaces and user experiences that are both appealing and effective. Tolulope has good communication skills and she is also never reluctant to ask questions, which is why she earned the name “the questionnaire” from Enyo Sam, the co-founder. Aliyu Unuagbokhe – Aliyu is a Product Designer who focuses on UI and visual representation of user pain points. He has an excellent communication skills, is always ready to learn, pays attention to details, is a team player and possesses good time management skills. Chizoba Odita – Chizoba is a reliable designer with sound judgement, time management and goal oriented. Repeatedly praised as hard-working and a team player by her peers. She has been a tremendous contributor to the Bukable project. She has worked with Bukable as the secretary of the design team. Precious Ukachukwu – Precious is a Product Designer with experience in designing digital products across HealthTech and EdTech. She is seeking to help startups and businesses, develop and validate their tech ideas through user research, defining the scope of their projects, wireframes and prototyping, creating design systems as well as developing intuitive and delightful visual interfaces. She contributed directly to the product development of Bukable – Design System, Enterprise Application and Administrative Dashboard. Hamza Ait Darhem – Hamza is a passionate UX/UI designer who has substantial experience in a variety of digital projects. He was able to utilize his artistic skills to create websites and mobile applications that represent who he is as a designer. In addition, he challenged himself with learning various skills, which has given him unique insight into content strategy, wireframes and testing. Optimizing processes and project management has always been a big part of his job. He made a specific design contribution to the online and mobile applications, as well as the Bukable design system. Sulaimon Salako – Sulaimon is a UX writer with a background in copywriting and an affinity for UX research. He joined Bukable as a UX research intern and collaborated with other UX research interns to plan and execute exploratory user surveys and interviews. He quickly unsheathed his pen once the need for someone to look after the words on our interfaces arose. Sulaimon developed a content style guide to help people across the team create content that aligns with Bukable’s voice and brand personality. He also worked on Bukable’s website redesign by creating the redesigned website content. In addition to research and writing, Sulaimon has strong overall product and design thinking, allowing him to contribute meaningfully to design critiques.

Daria Makarenko – Daria is a highly skilled and experienced Product Designer with a passion for creating visually stunning and functional designs. She has a strong background in user interface and user experience design. She is a creative thinker who loves to push the boundaries and explore creative ideas, while always keeping the end user in mind. As a product designer, she is detail-oriented and understands the importance of flawless execution. Whenever possible, she puts the user first and conducts thorough research in order to make sure the product is user-friendly.
